Stellar migration and chemical enrichment in the milky way disc: a hybrid model

چکیده
We develop a hybrid model of galactic chemical evolution that combines multi-ring computation enrichment with prescription for stellar migration and the vertical distribution populations informed by cosmological hydrodynamic disc galaxy simulation. Our fiducial adopts empirically motivated forms star formation law history, gradient in outflow mass loading tuned to reproduce observed metallicity gradient. With this approach, reproduces many striking qualitative features Milky Way disc's abundance structure: (i) dependence [O/Fe]-[Fe/H] on radius $R_\text{gal}$ midplane distance $|z|$; (ii) changing shapes [O/H] [Fe/H] distributions (iii) broad [O/Fe] at sub-solar changes $R_\text{gal}$, $|z|$, [Fe/H]; (iv) tight correlation between age $>$ 0.1; (v) population young intermediate-age $\alpha$-enhanced stars caused migration-induced variability Type Ia supernova rate; (vi) non-monotonic age-[O/H] age-[Fe/H] relations, large scatter median $\sim$4 Gyr near solar metallicity. Observationally models an enhanced rate $\sim$2 ago improve agreement but worsen age-[O/Fe] relation. None our predict distinct bimodality seen observations, suggesting more dramatic evolutionary pathways are required. Chemical enrichment and star formation in the Milky Way disk
A chromospheric age distribution of 552 latetype dwarfs is transformed into a star formation history by the application of scale height corrections, stellar evolutionary corrections and volume corrections. We show that the disk of our Galaxy has experienced enhanced episodes of star formation at 0-1 Gyr, 2-5 Gyr and 7-9 Gyr ago, although the reality of the latter burst is still uncertain. The s...
متن کاملPhase models of the Milky Way stellar disc
We present a new iterative method for constructing equilibrium phase models of stellar systems. Importantly, this method can provide phase models with arbitrary mass distributions. The method is based on the following principle. Our task is to generate an equilibrium N-body system with a given mass distribution. For this purpose, we let the system reach equilibrium through its dynamical evoluti...
متن کاملChemical Inhomogeneities in the Milky Way Stellar Halo
We have compiled a sample of 699 stars from the recent literature with detailed chemical abundance information (spanning −4.2 . [Fe/H] . +0.3), and we compute their space velocities and Galactic orbital parameters. We identify members of the inner and outer stellar halo populations in our sample based only on their kinematic properties and then compare the abundance ratios of these populations ...
